Eleanor Marie Sterns, age 93 of Hibbing died Thursday, October 22, 2020 in the Hillcrest Adams. She was born January 10, 1927 in Grand Marais the daughter of Carl and Hilma (Johannsson) Backlund; graduated from High School and the St. Luke's School of Nursing. Eleanor married Harold Sterns on November 4, 1950 in Grand Marais and was a longtime Hibbing resident. She was employed as a Nurse for the Hibbing General Hospital, was a travelling Nurse in Arizona, and a corporate Nurse in Iran. Eleanor was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, and was a Past Worthy Matron and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Mesaba Chapter #211.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters: Marilyn Sterns-Hutzler of Tucson and Nancy (Ron) Kruchoski of Chisholm; son-in-law: Dan Wilm of Pequot Lakes MN; grandchildren: Jason (Audrey) Hutzler of Phoenix, Peter (Phoebe) Kruchoski of White Salmon WA,  Jakob (Kimberly) Kruchoski of Chisholm, Julia (Blake) Meyer of Lakewood CO, and Brian Vonkovich of Pequot Lakes MN, step-grandchildren: Rick Hutzler and Madeline Bennett; great-grandchildren: Willie, Dylan, and Jaklyn Kruchoski; step-great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jessie, Tiana, Zachary, Luca, Colton, Charlie and Mason; Four step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harold; daughter: Helen Wilm; siblings: Hilmar, Rudy, Evelyn, Wesley, John, Sidney, and Alvin; and son-in-law: Richard Hutzler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Grand Marais.
