Ellen Mirium Bane, age 88 of Virginia, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born March 4, 1930 in Embarrass, the daughter of August and Mayme (Pulkinen) Korpela. She was raised in Embarrass, was a 1947 graduate of the Embarrass High School, and was a longtime resident of the Virginia area. She married Floyd Papin on June 23, 1951 in Virginia, and Peyton Bane on June 15, 1961 in South Dakota. Ellen was a waitress at both the ElRoy and Four Seasons restaurants. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Virginia, and was a Lady of Kaleva. She enjoyed quilting with the Going to Pieces quilting group, liked to golf, and spent winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Ellen is survived by her children: David Papin of Virginia, DeEtta (Mel) Annala of Gilbert, and Michael Bane of Virginia; sister: Leona Taapa of Embarrass; sister-in-law: Shirley Korpela of Virginia; grandchildren: Jesse (Kelli), Jeremey, Sam (Jill), Jenn, Michael (Angela), Ryan, Derek, and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Preslie, Cooper, Addison, Julia, Bryce, and Franklin; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Floyd and Peyton; siblings: Edward, Emil, Harold, and Shirley Brown; and son: Daniel in infancy.

The Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Joel Hasz will officiate. A Gathering time for Family and Friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials are the preferred way to honor Ellen's memory.
