Elmer A. Riser, age 90, longtime resident of Hibbing died Friday, December 4, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born April 14, 1919 in Grygla, MN the son of Oscar and Marie Riser. He attended school in Grygla and Cloverdale.
Elmer Worked as a diesel mechanic retiring from Mesaba Construction following more than 20 years of service for them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling.
Elmer is survived by his daughter: Edie (Chuck) Mersereau of Minneapolis; sons: Norm Riser of Hibbing, and Keith (Sharon) Riser of New Ulm, MN; a brother: Roy Riser of Livingston, TN; seven grandchildren: Mark (Carmy) Mersereau, Michelle (Damon Schweitzer) Mersereau, Nicole (Chris) Franks, Derek Riser, Samantha Riser, Michael Riser, and Ryan Johnson; two great-grandchildren: Ian and Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in the Nashwauk Lutheran Church. Rev. Jean Megorden will officiate. Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the food shelf or the charity of the donor's choice.
