Elsie E. Bartz, age 92, longtime resident of Hibbing died Thursday, June 06, 2019, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl.  She was born December 7, 1926, in Cook, MN, the daughter of Herman and Martha (Wolff) Hakala.  She was a graduate of Cass Lake High School and went on to receive her BA in English from UMD.  She was united in marriage to Russell Bartz on August 20, 1949.

Elsie worked as a homemaker.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, and was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing and reading.

Elsie is survived by her daughter: Jana (Joel) Bell of Hibbing; grandson: Nicholas (Joseph Robinson) Bell of Hawthorne, CA; granddaughter: Jordan Bell of St. Paul, MN; sisters: Vienna and Nancy; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Russell in 2006; and sister: Helmi.

A private family service will be held.  Inurnment will be in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.
