Errol Glenn Hietala, age 73, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at his home with family at his side. He was born June 13, 1943, in Duluth the son of Glenn and Elsie (Hill) Hietala. Errol went to school in Hibbing. He served in the 194 Armor division of the Minnesota Army National Guard. Errol was united in marriage to Janis Carlson on August 22, 1981, at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. He was a happy, humble and loving person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Errol was a self-employed custom woodworker. He worked on many projects both corporate and private. Recently he worked on the custom interior work at the Mesaba Clinic addition and new departments of the Fairview Hospital in Hibbing. He enjoyed mentoring others in the craft. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, spending time at the lake with family and friends, woodworking with his grandchildren, and helping the Cub Scouts with their soap-box derby cars. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

Errol is survived by his wife of 36 years: Jan; his children: Mark (Michele) Saccoman of Pengilly, MN, Joleen Dudley of Canton, GA, Sheila (Don) Stiles of Glendale, AZ, and Richie (Sylvia) Snell of Glendale, AZ; nine grandchildren; his brother: Daven Hietala of Phoenix, AZ; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Anita Fierke; and children: Gina Saccoman and Chuck Saccoman.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Ben Schori will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.
