Ervin Earl Carlson, age 87 of Hibbing died Friday, August 31, 2018 in Essentia Health Virginia Care Center. He was born May 13, 1931 in Browerville, MN the son of C. Adolph and Agnes (Rupprecht) Carlson. Ervin married Elizabeth Clara Beireis on June 6, 1951 in Bertha MN and was a longtime Hibbing resident. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for MA Hanna and National Steel. Ervin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, the Hibbing Men's Bowling League, the Wednesday morning coffee group at McDonalds, and enjoyed pancake breakfasts at the Silica Fire Department.

Ervin is survived by children: Barbara (Richard) Grace of Mankato, Don (Gayle) Carlson, Lynda Carlson, and Greg Carlson all of Hibbing; siblings: Theodore (Doris) Carlson of St. Paul and Adeline Beireis of Long Prairie; grandchildren: Shanon (Mandy) Holman, Jeffrey (Rachel) Grace, Michael (Jessica) Grace, Amanda (Jerel) Markovich, Melissa (Randy) Ketola, Matt (Jess) Carlson, Andrew (Kristine) Carlson, Jennifer (Donovan) Maddocks, and Tyler (Haley) Blair; great-grandchildren: Andrea, Emma, Danny, Nicholas, Kylie, Ethan, Madison, Jacob, Jonathan, and Jace; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including Jake and Shirley Beireis, Lorna Johnson and Lulu Nguyen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Elizabeth "Betty" Carlson, siblings: Dorothea, Walter, Lester, Louis and Lucille, and granddaughter: Amanda Carlson.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing. Katie Larson, CLP will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will take place in the Hibbing Park Cemetery Columbarium.
