Esther A. Anderson, age 97, a longtime resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, May 9, 2017. She was born March 31, 1920 near Buck Lake – Nashwauk the daughter of Elias and Eva (Ostrom) Kortes Aho. Esther married Adolph Anderson on August 7, 1937 in Hibbing and was employed in the housekeeping department at the Hibbing General Hospital. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, VFW Post 8510 Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, and a volunteer at the Hibbing Tourist Center and the Hibbing Hospital. Esther was an avid bowler, golfer, and loved to dance.

Esther is survived by daughters: Judy (Robert) Sweet of Hibbing, Jane (Bernard) Bissonette of Hibbing, Joanne (Adrian) Catani of Naperville, IL; son-in-law: Richard Maras of Fridley, MN; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild "on the way"; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including Shirley Rodorigo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Adolph; and infant son; daughter: Joy Maras; Siblings: Eino, George, Howard, Arthur, Robert, Mayme, Ellen, and Mildred.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Ben Schori will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Esther's grandchildren.
