Evelyn Virginia Anderson, age 91 longtime resident of Virginia, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in St. Raphael's Health & Rehab Center in Eveleth. She was born July 28, 1920 in Virginia, MN the daughter of Roy and Thora Helena "Barra" (Hansen) Isakson, and was a graduate of Virginia High School and Virginia Junior College. Evelyn married Herbert K Anderson on July 10, 1941 in Virginia. She worked in college as a Bell telephone operator and later for the Virginia License Bureau. Evelyn served on the Girl Scout Council, was a Cub Scout Den Mother to all her boys in William's Addition, volunteered for the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, and was a Gold Star Mother. She was a longtime organist at the Eveleth Methodist Church, a member of the Wednesday Musicale Group, for many years played weekly at area Skilled Nursing Facilities, was involved in many choral groups and was a soloist for many occasions.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter: Donna (Tony) DeLuca of Virginia; sister-in-law: Muriel Hughes of Peoria, IL; nieces and nephews: Vicki (Randy) Bahr; Wally (Jen) Hughes; and Vernon Isakson; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, 4 great- great-grandchildren, numerous cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Herbert; son: Sgt. Herbert R. Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Roy & Violet Isakson and Harry & Erma Isakson; and niece: Ruth Ann Pontinen.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the 12 Noon Funeral Service in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Brenda Tibbetts, AiM, will officiate. Spring Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the Veterans on the Lake.
