Evelyn Irene (Carey) Hill, age 89 of Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Essentia Health, Virginia. She was born on March 21, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Adele (Salmi) Carey in Eveleth, Minnesota. After graduating from Eveleth High School in 1945 she had worked as a bookkeeper for several years. In 1948 she moved to Virginia where she was a resident the rest of her life. On September 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to Russell J. Hill.

She was a charter member of the former Northland Bible Church in Virginia and later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Chisholm, now the Chisholm Baptist Church. Evelyn delighted in the Lord Jesus. She delighted in her family, in her friends, and in her home.

She is survived by three sons: Brian (Julie) of Mt. Iron and their sons Aaron, Matthew (Leah), Lucas (Cassie), and Stephen; David of Minneapolis; and Todd (June) of Virginia and their children Tyler, Casey, and Melissa; one daughter: Tracy (Edward) Habermann of Proctor and their sons Charlie, Russell, and Henry; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Christian, and one due soon; and extended family and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband: Russell in 2006; her parents: Charles and Adele Carey; four brothers: Ted, Herbert, Clarence, and Bernard; one sister: Gladys Holmes; two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Chisholm Baptist Church in Chisholm. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the Church. Pastor Dan Erickson will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
