Obituary


Everett Lee Gillen, age 22 of Mahtowa and formerly of Virginia died Monday, January 30, 2017 at home of complications of Muscular Dystrophy with his mother and step-father by his side. He was born February 21, 1994 in Bangkok, Thailand the son of Timothy and Lynne (Dick) Gillen. Everett was a 2012 graduate of Virginia High School, and had participated in wheelchair hockey and chess club. He enjoyed video gaming with is younger brother and friends. He was an avid reader and his special hobby through the years was all things Legos. Everett was quiet, but known for his wry humor. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Everett and his younger brother, Austin were Goodwill Ambassadors for the Northland Chapter of MDA and participated in MD research. He attended the Embarrass Evangelical Free Church until moving to Mahtowa. Everett loved the Lord.


Everett is survived by his mother: Lynne (Brent) Zimmerman of Mahtowa; father: Tim (Karen Capalbo) Gillen of Katonah, NY; stepsisters: Sharissa and Camille Zimmerman and McKayla (Aaron) Baker; stepbrother: Austin Zimmerman; maternal grandparents: Ronald and Sandra Dick of Virginia; paternal grandparents: Daniel and Valerie Gillen of Starksboro, VT; aunts and uncles: Brenda (Glen) Charles of Mora and Scott (Sue) Gillen of Coconut Creek, FL; numerous cousins, extended family and loving friends.


He was preceded in death by his brother: Austin Gillen; paternal grandmother: Cecelia Gillen, and uncle: Perry Dick.


Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Visitation will continue Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at the Evangelical Free Church in Embarrass. Pastor Marlin Bjornrud will officiate. Interment will take place in the Embarrass Cemetery.
