Florence Lillian Frantti, age 97 of Hibbing, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born October 9, 1916 in Eveleth, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Mills) Bihlaja and was a 1935 graduate of Hibbing High School. On September 2, 1939 Florence married Donald Frantti and was a longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Duluth. She was employed by McLellan's Dime Store and Montgomery Wards in Hibbing. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing, where she served as church organist for 37 years, was a member of Phoebe Circle, and a choir member. Florence loved music. Her childhood piano has been passed down to her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. In her 97 years of life she learned to paint and read many books.
Florence is survived by son: Peter (Roberta) Frantti of Lincoln, Ca; sister: Margaret (Roy) Kampen of Elk Grove, CA, brother: Marvin (Laura) Bihl of Clearwater, MN; grandchildren: Rian (Christy ) Frantti of Lincoln, CA, Paul (Jill ) Frantti of St. Louis, MO, and Sara (Paul ) Weinberger of Eden Prairie, MN; great-grandchildren: Peter, Lauren, Nick, Max, and Josh; nieces and nephew: Laura Jean Glad of Hibbing, Linda (Dave) Hansen of Duluth, and Richard (Sue) Sheff of Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Donald; and sisters: Lorraine and Irene.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Dave Stevens will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery.
