Floyd Lee Mickle, age 97 of Tower died Saturday, October 17, 2009 in St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. He was born November 21, 1911 in Pillager, MN the son of Bert and Maud (Lasher) Mickle. Floyd married Helen Kiger, and later married Clara (Gustafson) Rebro. He was a logger and a farmer who lived in Grand Rapids, Grand Marais, Jacobson, and Tower Minnesota. Floyd loved being in the woods; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper.
Floyd is survived by children: LeRoy (Ann) Mickle of Poplar, WI, Calvin (Linda) Mickle of Deer River, Dwyane (Marianna) Mickle of Cleeburg, Germany, Mike (Priscilla) Mickle of Soudan, Darwin (Julie) Mickle of Tower, Cheryl "Gidget" (Edd) Brooks of Fridley and Ron (Patti) Rebro of Pengilly; and step daughters: Marlene Stewart of Grafton, WI, and Barbara (Steve) Rose of Hales Corners, WI: 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Clara; daughter Shirley "Babe" Mickle; grandson: Stephen Mickle and siblings: Maggie, Jack, Percy, and Herbert.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service in St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. Pastor Bill Evans will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm in the Harris Twp. Cemetery near Grand Rapids.
Casket bearers will be: Patrick Mickle, Matt Brooks, Scott Mickle, Tony Mickle, Corey Mickle, and Trevor Mickle. Honorary Casket bearers will be: Jeff Erickson, Edd Brooks, Ron Rebro, LeRoy Mickle, Jr., Billy Mickle, John Swanson, Justin Rebro, Peter Mickle, Mike Driscoll, and Tim Mickle.
