Frances Elizabeth Tanko, age 93 a lifelong resident of Tower died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home. She was born July 2, 1916 in Tower the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Cebin) Morin. She married Victor Tanko on October 27, 1934 in St, Martin's Catholic Church in Tower and was a homemaker. Frances was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, the Slovenian Women's Union Branch # 34 and the KSKJ Lodge # 4.
Frances is survived by her children: Victor Tanko, Jr. of Lake Vermilion - Tower; Rosemary (Joseph) Tanko of Chisholm; and Agnes "Aggie" (Larry) Venaas of Westminster, CA; Five grandchildren; Four Great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Victor, Sr.; daughter: Joan Tanko in 1953; siblings: Julia Burns, Agnes Williams, Joseph Morin, Anthony Morin, Ralph Morin, Mary Ring, Ann Nemanich, and John Morin.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 21, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower. Reverend Father Joseph Thomas, MCBS will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
