Obituary

Frank "Red" DelGreco, age 95 of Virginia and formerly of Buhl died Monday, September 18, 2017 in the Essentia Virginia Care Center. He was born August 17, 1922 in Buhl the son of Antonio and Vincenza (Colanglia) Del Greco and attended Martin Hughes High School in Buhl. After school, Frank worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Luna. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Lundendorff Bridge battle in Remagen, Germany with Company B, 9th Armored Engineer Battalion, and was honorably discharged in 1945. Frank married Sarah Santa on September 23, 1947 in Buhl and they were longtime Buhl residents. He was employed by US Steel Minntac as a Drill and Blast Foreman and a member of Hope Community Presbyterian Church. Frank enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and carpentry.


Frank is survived by children: Fran (Andrew) Larson of Soudan, Bonnie (Ron) Novak of Fargo, Frank A. DelGreco of Virginia, Andy (Ann) DelGreco of Eveleth, and Don (Bonnie) DelGreco of Pelican Rapids; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Sarah; and siblings: Peter DelGreco, Joe DelGreco, Anthony DelGreco, Phyllis Haus, Rose Marchetti, Mary Schutte, and Ellen Kehl.


Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia. Pastor Connie Dorn will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors accorded by the Virginia Serviceman's Honor Guard.
