Gail J. Komula, age 72, lifelong resident of Kelly Lake and Hibbing, died Monday, December 26, 2016, at Home Sweet Home in Hibbing following a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She was born October 8, 1944, in Hibbing the daughter of Milton and Sadie (Juntunen) Mattson. She was a graduate of Hibbing High School.

Gail worked at Euclid, Honeywell, and then as a Field Office Assistant for Education Minnesota – retiring after 37 years of service. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Gail enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling to Arizona to visit her daughter and grandson, fishing and camping with her special friend: Terry Scanlon.

Gail is survived by her daughter: Sandra Komula of Rio Rico, AZ; her grandson: David Komula of Oro Valley, AZ; her sisters-in-law: Barb Mattson of East Grand Forks, MN, and Kathy (Roger) Rosand of Duluth, MN; cousins: Bob (Lily) Ojala, Bill (Donna) Juntunen, and Arlene Meadows; niece: Toni Michelle (George) Gothner; nephew: Mathew (Darcie) Burbul; her former husband: Gary Komula; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father: Weldon Collier; her son: David G. Komula, and her brother: Gary Mattson.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1:00 pm memorial service Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Kevin Olson will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.
