Gladyce L. Johnson, age 95, of Hermantown and formerly of Tower, MN died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth. She was born March 11, 1916 in Tower, MN the daughter of Harry and Signe (Anderson) Anderson. She graduated from Tower High School in 1934 and attended the McPhail School of Music in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Paul N. Johnson in 1936. Gladyce was a former Choir Director at Lakeview Covenant Church in Duluth. She loved cooking, baking and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Lake Vermilion.
Gladyce is survived by son: Paul D.(Sherry) Johnson of Duluth; daughter: Priscilla (Wally) Thoreen of Apple Valley, MN; sister: Donna Mickelson of Eveleth, MN; brother: Glen Anderson of Bayport, MN; grandchildren: Tami (Chris) Merry of Charlotte, NC, Chris Johnson of Spring, TX, Brad (Kris) Thoreen of Blaine, MN and Brian (Sonja) Thoreen of Oakdale, MN; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Paul in 1999, brothers: Byron and Gilbert Anderson and a sister: Florence Pengal.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
