Gordon Otto Forer, age 78 of Hibbing died Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Eveleth Fitzgerald Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 25, 1935 in Little Falls, MN the son of William and Alice (Zimmerman) Forer and was a 1953 graduate of Swanville, MN High School. Gordon married Ardis Zastrow on February 11, 1956 in Long Prairie and was a longtime resident of Hibbing. He was employed by Gamble Robinson from 1957 until 1980 and then Sullivan Supply from 1980 until his retirement in 2004. Gordon was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, bowling and in the past 15 years going on annual family vacations.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 58 years: Ardis; children: Ronald Forer of Hibbing, Daniel (Kim) Forer of Rockford, MI, Barbara (Mike) Laurich of Chisholm, and Scott (Jen) Forer of Hibbing; brother: Howard (Nancy) Forer of Rice, MN; sisters-in-law: Madella (Robert) Bous of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Marilyn Zastrow of Long Prairie, MN; brothers-in-law: Marvin (Marlys) Zastrow of St. Cloud, MN, Ed (Ruth Ann) Zastrow of Sauk Center, MN and Gary (Diane) Zastrow of Long Prairie, MN; grandchildren: Danielle Forer of Grand Rapids, MI, Jeremy Laurich of Chisholm, Payton and Drew Forer of Hibbing; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Donald Zastrow and Ivan Kitzman; sisters-in-law: Norma Kitzman and Bernice Zastrow.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 in Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Reverend Tim Yearyean will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will follow in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery.
