Grace Jean Breen, age 88 of Palos Heights, IL died Sunday, October 30, 2011. She was born November 21, 1922 in Biwabik, the daughter of Mike and Nellie (Faber) Smith. Grace was a graduate of Biwabik High School where she was on the swim team and in the band. After graduation, she attended the Duluth Business College. She was employed by the Bureau of Mines, Farmer's Insurance in Kansas City, Western Airlines in San Diego, and Electromotive in La Grange, IL where she met her husband to be, Joseph Breen. They were married on September 30, 1950 in St. John's Catholic Church in Biwabik Grace enjoyed spending summers on Lake Vermilion and loved the fourth of July celebrations in Biwabik.
Grace is survived by sons: Michael (Dawn) Breen of Tower and Kevin Breen of Palos Heights, IL; granddaughters: Bridget and Colleen Breen; sister-in-law: Marilyn Smith, nephews: Michael & Robert Smith; and nieces: Julie Smith and Mary Henchel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Joseph; sister: Marge Kring and brother: Michael Smith.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 7, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John's Catholic Church in Biwabik. Pastor Steven Daigle will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery.
