Obituary

Harold O. Olson, age 84 of Britt, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 20, 2013 with his family at his side, in the care of East Range Hospice. He was born June 9, 1929 in Cook, MN the son of Victor and Marie (Hollen) Olson and was a 1947 graduate of Cook High School. Harold married Arliss Tuomi on September 10, 1955 in Tower, MN. They made their home in Tower and moved to Britt in 1959. Harold was a self-employed carpenter who built many homes and was a very accomplished wood worker and cabinet maker. He was an active, long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia where he served as a Sunday school teacher, a Council member, a member of the property committee and Men in Mission. Harold enjoyed traveling, birds, gardening, building bird houses, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and was an avid reader. He had a naturally inquisitive mind and had a thirst for knowledge, learning about people and places. Harold was a quiet man of deep faith who cherished time spent with family.
Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years: Arliss; children: Jane (Dan) Vukelich of Nashua, NH, Jody (Stephanie) Olson of Evergreen, CO, Janis (Craig) Swanson of Anoka, MN, Jenifer (Steve) Leitch of Willmar, MN, and Jon Erik (Gretchen) Olson of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren: Daniel, Dylan & Leah Vukelich, Isaac, Andrew, & Madeline Olson, Erik, Emily & Katie Swanson, Brittany & Bradley Leitch, and Lukas & Jakob Olson; siblings: Arlee (Doreen) Olson, Elof (Nancy) Olson, Sam (Sandee) Olson, Anna Marie (Victor) Walker, Gladys (Willard) Olson, and Ruth (Sam) Fuller; sisters-in-law: Patsy Olson, Alice Taylor, Karin VonSien, and Kay (Richard) Hanson; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother: Elton Olson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Bob Simensen and Brenda Tibbetts, AiM will officiate. Family Graveside Services will be held in the Littlefork Cemetery in Field Township at 2:30 p.m.
Harold's family wishes to thank Essentia's East Range Hospice Team for their loving care and concern.
