Biography Harriet Torrance, age 78, formerly of Crookston passed away peacefully on September 4, 2010 in Buhl, MN. She was born May 1, 1932 in Mentor, MN the daughter of Lloyd and Emma (Ramberg) Nicholson and grew up in Mentor. Harriet married Dale W. Torrance on June 24, 1951 and lived in the East Grand Forks area, Maple Lake, and Crookston prior to moving to Buhl in March of 2010. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines, and enjoyed needlework, knitting, reading, watching the Twins, and playing shuffleboard. She cherished the time spent at her home on Maple Lake; and loved having daily coffee with the ladies of Oak Court.
Harriet is survived by children: Billie Torrance of Boulder, CO, Bryan Torrance of East Grand Forks, MN and Sandy (Robert) Waxvik of Pengilly, MN; grandchildren: Michael (Heather) Torrance, Rebecca Holden, Sarah Holden, Dale T. Torrance, Mark (Annie) Waxvik, Scott (Stacia Donovan) Waxvik, and David Waxvik; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Jean Hughes and Dorothy Boyum; and daughter-in-law: Amy Torrance.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crookston. Revered William Reck will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Maple Lake Cemetery.
