Hazel Virginia Forsmark, age 89, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Minneapolis died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the Fairview University Medical Center - Mesabi with family by her side. She was born January 18, 1922 in Chisholm, MN the daughter of Jacob "Daniel" and Matilda (Bye) Forsmark. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1940 and went on to receive her BS in Nursing from Hamline University.

Hazel worked as the Director of Nursing at the Hibbing General Hospital and the University Medical Center - Mesabi. She previously taught non-professional nursing at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading, watching sports and growing flowers.

Hazel is survived by her brother: Daniel Forsmark of Hibbing, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Donald; and three sisters: Norma, Evelyn, and Blanche.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Wesley United Methodist Church, in Hibbing. The Reverend Terry Tilton will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
