Biography

Helen Jean Pettinelli, age 77 of Virginia, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Edgewood Vista Senior Living Center in Virginia. She was born May 26, 1934 in Eveleth, MN the daughter of Mike and Katie (Gregorich) Ercegovich, and was a graduate of Eveleth High School. Helen grew up in Station 44 and after her marriage to Renold Pettinelli on December 27, 1952 they made their home in Williams Addition in Virginia, MN. She was a homemaker who devoted herself to everything she was involved in. She cherished time spent with her family. Helen was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, enjoyed doing ceramics and crocheting, playing cards, and volunteered at the Salvation Army's Soup Kitchen. She was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as the April Angel Coordinator.
Helen is survived by her husband of 59 years: Renold; children: Gregg Pettinelli of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Renell Pettinelli of Northfield, MN, Charles (Kim) Pettinelli of Virginia, Patrick (Jessica Klein) Pettinelli of Seattle, WA and Jon (Lisa) Pettinelli of Virginia; a sister: Kathy (Richard) Jannetta of Duluth; grandchildren: Michael Wickmann, Kaye (Tim) Andree, Kelli Pettinelli, Benjamin Pettinelli, Brady Pettinelli, Chauncey Pettinelli, and Niclas Pettinelli; a great-grandson: William Andree; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 10 a.m until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.
