Biography
Ingvald Lislegard, age 85 of Virginia died peacefully Monday, June 6, 2011 in St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia surrounded by his wife and family after a long illness of Alzheimer's disease. He was born September 7, 1925 in Pinecreek, MN the son of Tollef and Karen (Dahl) Lislegard. Ingvald lived in Pinecreek until joining the United States Navy in 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and married Averille Knepper on April 29, 1947 in Pinecreek. They lived in Roseau, farmed west of Badger and in Pinecreek moving to Embarrass in 1950. Ingvald was employed as a farmer, a carpenter, an iron worker, and as a welder of Reserve Mining Company. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass and cherished time spent with his family.
Ingvald is survived by his wife of 64 years: Averille; children: Jerry Lislegard of Cook, Michael (Diana) Lislegard of Embarrass, Christine (Rodney) Dale of Embarrass, Heidi (Mark) Pelkey of Tower, Melinda (Bruce) Warren of Embarrass; siblings: Holger (Elsie) Lislegard of Roseau and Mabel (Stanley) Saltue of Roseau; grandchildren: Randy (Brandy) Lislegard, David (Lisa) Lislegard, Joel Lislegard, Jolie Lislegard, Karen (Ryan Lindseth) Lislegard, Rhonda (Danny) Boelk, Roger (Kimberly) Dale, Lisa (Scott) Gibson, April (Martin) Ahlijah, Elizabeth Gade, and Kyle Durbin; step grandchildren: Emma Fox and John Fox; great-grandchildren: Jaden, Shayler, Bralyn, Zander, Hailey, Nadia, Mia, Kara, Trevor, Allyson, Gabrielle, Matthew, Jacob, Morgan, and Ranae; nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law: Iver (Delphine) Lislegard; son: Kyle Lislegard; and granddaughter: Connie Dale.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service in Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Pastor Ben Buchanan will officiate. Interment will follow in the Embarrass Cemetery. Military Honors accorded by the Babbitt VFW Post # 1539 & Maki-Pinola American Legion Post # 535. A luncheon will follow the interment at the Embarrass Town Hall.
