Jacqueline
Larson
May 16, 1948 — Mar 18, 2018
Jacqueline (Jackie) Marie Larson, 69, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on May 16, 1948, in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Jackie graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1966. She attended the School of Cosmetology in Green Bay and then earned her LPN nursing degree after moving to Minnesota.
Jackie met her husband Roger Larson at the Sawmill Inn in Grand Rapids in 1977. They married on Nov. 11, 1978, in Hibbing, Minnesota, and they made their home on Hartley Lake in Bovey, Minnesota. Jackie and Roger owned and operated R.W. Larson Insurance in Hibbing until they retired.
Jackie loved the simple things in life like slurpies and sunrises. She was in love with Winnie the Pooh and Lord of the Rings. She loved all animals, big or small, especially if they needed rescuing! She enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be tending to her flowers, spending time on the lake, or mowing the grass. She loved sports, especially watching her children's activities. She was definitely a "Hockey Mom" and enjoyed every minute of it. She loved traveling, playing cards with friends, and going to the casino. Jackie was an eternal optimist. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. She had the biggest heart. She was more than willing to always lend a helping hand or an open ear. Jackie always put others before herself, even as the end neared. Regularly throughout her life she would remark on how blessed she was, even as her cancer progressed.
Of all her loves, Jackie's greatest love was Roger. She loved Roger like no other. She also loved and cherished every minute spent with her children, her grandchildren, and her many friends. Jackie had a strong faith and was an active member of Lawron Presbyterian Church in rural Bovey, Minnesota.
As was with her love of sunrises, Jackie passed away at home with the first morning light, with the rising sun shining upon her. At her time of her death, she was surrounded by her family and her beloved deer, who paused a long while outside her window. We will miss the sound of her voice. We will miss her laugh. We will miss "OUR" Jackie.
Jackie is preceded in death by her grandparents Marvin & Minnie DeFaut, her parents Jack L. Mitok and Betty J. (Wesolowski) Mitok, and her younger brother, Thomas J. Mitok.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years Roger Larson; her four children: Tony (Lesann) Larson, Lisa Fitzpatrick, Jon (Tanja) Sievers, and Chris (Alison) Larson; her siblings Cheri (Cal) Martell and Tim (Amy) Mitok; her grandchildren Abigail, Andrew, Anton, Kristen, and Tiffany; and numerous nieces and nephews
Funeral/Celebration of Life for Jackie will be on Saturday, March 24, at 2PM at the Lawron Presbyterian Church (35254 Scenic Hwy, Bovey, MN 55709) on Scenic 7 Highway. Wake/viewing will begin at 1PM.
