Janelle Kay Buria, 70, of Estero, Florida, and Lake Leander, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at her home on Lake Leander, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 5, 1955, in Virginia, Minnesota, Janelle was the cherished daughter of Charles and Barbara (Busse) Muck. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Mt. Iron High School before earning her Associate of Arts degree in Nursing from Hibbing Community College, beginning a lifelong career dedicated to caring for others as a Registered Nurse.

On their beloved Lake Leander property, Janelle married the love of her life, Raymond T. Buria, in 2000 in the home's chapel, a place that held special meaning throughout their life together.

Janelle devoted 37 years to her career as a surgical charge nurse at Essentia Health–Virginia Regional Medical Center, where she touched countless lives through her skill, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She was deeply respected and loved by her coworkers, who remembered her as professional, dependable, hardworking, and genuinely kind to everyone she met.

Outside of her career, Janelle had a gift for bringing people together. She was an exceptional cook and baker who loved creating memorable gatherings for family and friends. Above all, she took immense pride in her loving husband, her children, and her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Janelle found her happiest moments near the water. Whether she was waterskiing, fishing, enjoying a pontoon ride on the lake, or taking peaceful walks along the beach collecting seashells, she embraced every opportunity to be outdoors. She also had an unmistakable sense of style and was known for always being impeccably dressed. Her family likes to joke that she was always the best-dressed person in the room—even if it meant keeping Ray waiting a little longer.

Janelle is survived by her beloved husband, Ray; her children, Austin Asbach (Danielle) of Duluth, Minnesota, Emily (Alon) Naftali of Naples, Florida, Amber Asbach (Tyler) of Moose Lake, Minnesota, Kevin (Sarah) Buria of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Amanda (Scott) Kishel of Duluth, Minnesota; her brother, John Muck of Mt. Iron, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Paxton, Mason, and Adaline Naftali, Cameron and Cooper Kishel, and Huxlee Dunaiski; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Barbara Muck.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia, Minnesota. Pastor Rebecca LeManager will officiate.
