Janice Ilene Krueger age 73 of Mt. Iron died Monday, November 11, 2013 in Essentia Medical Center Virginia. She was born April 19, 1940 in Perham, MN the 15th of 18 children of Carl and Albertina (Morton) Umlauf and grew up in Star Lake, MN. Janice married Og Krueger on May 22, 1958 in Dent, MN. They resided in Vergas, MN and other multiple locations prior to moving to Mountain Iron in 1966. Janice enjoyed tending to her gardens and her husband of 55 years: Og. She was a wonderful homemaker who liked cooking, picking berries, fishing, and most any outdoor activity. Her greatest love was found in her family: husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and neighborhood friends and families. She was the best!
Janice is survived by her husband of 55 years: Og; children: Cheryl (David) Mattson of Britt, Amy (Gordy) Savela of Grand Rapids, and Arthur (MaryJane) Krueger of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren: Matthew (Mary) Mattson of Mountain Iron, Douglas (Kasey) Mattson of Biwabik, Angie Savela attending the University of Notre Dame, Emily Savela attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Stewart Savela of Grand Rapids, Jordan Krueger of Illinois, Joshua Krueger and Mabel Krueger both of Gilbert, AZ and Anthony Krueger and Anna Krueger both of Badger, MN; great-grandchildren: Desarea Cheryl Mattson and Nolan Jarvi; siblings: Marvin Umlauf, Wilma Forsyth, Yvonne (Gene) Hanson, Milo Umlauf, Joyce Smith, Allan (Linda) Umlauf, and Carl Umlauf, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Douglas Krueger in 1962 and Dean Krueger in 2008; and ten brothers and sisters.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Pastor Kristin Foster will officiate. Spring Inurnment will take place in the Vergas Village Cemetery.
