Jean Mary Croft, age 62, of Virginia and formerly of England, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in the Virginia Convalescent Center after a brief illness. She was born October 1, 1946 in Morely, England the daughter of Harold and Joyce Booth. Jean attended school in Morely, and went on to pursue a degree as a Lab Technician at Leeds University. In 1970 she met her future husband, George in Majorca, Spain while he was in port with the US Navy. They were united in marriage on February 13, 1971 in Two Harbors, MN.
Jean worked as a homemaker, and her care for children extended not only to her own children and grandchildren, but to many of the neighborhood children as well. Jean's children and grandsons were the light of her life. "Grandma Jean" was always in the stands cheering for her grandsons and always ready with money for the concession stand afterwards. Jean was a wonderful, kind, and loving person who will be greatly missed. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and she served on the Land of the Loon Committee. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, walking and reading..
Jean is survived by her husband: George; her children: Timothy (Kathi) Croft of Virginia, and Jennifer (Nick) Stewart of Gilbert; her father: Harold Booth of Notton, England; four grandsons: Colton, Connor and Caden Croft, and Owen Stewart; her brother: Roy (Frances) Booth of Drighlington, England; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother: Joyce.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, July 20, 2009, and will continue Tuesday, July 21, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service all in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia. Reverend Robert Simensen will officiate.
