Jean Ardell Jacobson, age 77, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 11, 1932 in Webb Location, the daughter of Johnathon W. and Nettie W. (Sanders) Samson. She graduated from Hibbing High School, and was married to Ivar Jacobson on September 4, 1954.
Jean worked as a homemaker and was a department head for Montgomery Ward. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, American Legion Post #222 Auxiliary, VFW Post 5516 Auxiliary, the Swandale Ladies Club for 40+ years, the Wilpen-Spudville Club, and she was a Salvation Army volunteer. Jean enjoyed reading, sewing, baking and gardening.
Jean is survived by her children: Karen (Vaughn) Monroe of Bloomington, MN, Emily (David) Kent of Quincy IL, John E. (Diane) Jacobson of Cherry, MN, and Carl (Joyce) Jacobson of Vadnais Heights, MN; sister: Virginia M. Samson of Hibbing; brother: Kenneth R. (Shirley) Samson of Hibbing; eight grandchildren: Jeannie Monroe, Elizabeth (Tim) Bowes, Erica (Ben) Gallup, Amanda and Andrew Jacobson, Darin Kent, Michael and Rebecca Jacobson; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ivar (2001); brother and sister-in-law: LeRoy (Lillian) Samson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:30 am funeral service Friday, February 13, 2009 in the 1st Presbyterian Church in Hibbing. The Rev. James F. Deters will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
