Jean Elaine Perushek, née Virta, 84, died Friday July 20, 2018 at Virginia Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Virginia, born to Neilo and Amanda Virta on January 8, 1934. She graduated Virginia Roosevelt High School in 1952, and the close friendships formed there remained throughout her life. In 1954 she married Wally (Wallace) Perushek, and they had two children Michael and Mona. Jean was an early career woman, working as the JC Penny's office manager for 14 years, and continuing her career at the Virginia Regional Medical Center in the Business Services group for 25 years until her retirement. Jean was a woman of faith, serving as a member of the Virginia Council of Catholic Women. She had a special devotion to the "Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament". In addition, Jean's love for reading often took her to the library and her enjoyment of shopping to the mall.

Jean is survived by children: Michael (Mary Lynne) Maple Grove, MN, and Mona Tinnell (Jaye) Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters: Virginia (Bill) Pershern and Karen Braun, both of Virginia; sisters-in-law Dolly Grillo (James) and Marilyn Jacobson both of Hibbing; several nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Neilo and Amanda Virta; sisters: Gloria Bowman and June Feinberg; adoring husband Wally; longtime companion Jim Sadar; brother- and sister in law Charles and Bridget Perushek ; brother in law Roy Jacobson; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Marquette Catholic School or the Virginia Public Library.
