Jean A. Zupanich, longtime resident of Tower – Soudan died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Golden Horizons in Tower. She was born in Higgins Location, the daughter of Prospero and Cesarina (DePaulis) Santelli. She graduated from Virginia High School. Jean was united in marriage to George Zupanich in Virginia, MN.
Jean worked at the Virginia Hospital, and then at Hearth Side for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower where she was in the St. Monica Circle.
Jean is survived by her children: Paulette (David) Jallen of Ozark, AL, Roger (Dawn) Johnson of New Berlin, WI, and Dennis (Denise) Johnson of Duluth, MN; 6 grandchildren: Carolyn (Shawn) Phinney, Jennifer (Peter) Kopp, Joseph (Stacy) Johnson, Julie (Matt) Benfield, Danielle (fiancée Brandon) Johnson, and Kellie Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren: Carter, Riley, Jackson, Caitlin, Lauren, Jeremiyah, and Isabelle; and her sister: Delores Struthers of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: George; her sisters: Irma Schubert, and Flora Tewes; and her brothers: Americo, Anthony, and Eugene Santelli.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower. The Reverend Fr. Drew Braun will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Golden Horizons for the care that they extended to Jean.
