Jeanne Franson, age 72 of Lake Vermilion – Tower died peacefully, Sunday, January 31, 2016 in her home, with her children at her side. She was born July 9, 1943 in Cohasset, MN the daughter of Roland and Blanche (Monson) Skogman. Jeanne grew up on Cohasset and was a graduate of Grand Rapids High School. After high school she married Roy Gilbert, and they made their home in Michigan and the Minneapolis area prior to Roy's death in 1972. Jeanne married Frank Franson in 1974 and has lived on Lake Vermilion ever since that time. She was a member of the Lake Vermilion Sportsmen's Club and Conservationists With Common Sense. Jeanne loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, and berry picking. She cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Jeanne is survived by children: Gregory Scott (Jenny) Gilbert of Warroad, Barbara Ann (John) Schultz of Grand Rapids, and Brian Keith Gilbert of Virginia; siblings: Gary "Curly" ( Roberta) Skogman of Lake Vermilion – Tower, Richard (Carol) Skogman of Hayward, WI, Laura (Dave) Hagstrom of Ham Lake, MN Dean "Tony" (Wendy) Skogman of Warroad, John (Mike) Skogman of Tennessee, and Jody (Gregg) Heikkinen of Rogers, MN; grandchildren: Amanda Gilbert, Dylan Gilbert and Cody Gilbert; great-granddaughter: Jordyn; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband: Roy in 1972; second Husband Frank in 2014; and grandson: Nathan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016 in Bauman's Vermilion Funeral Home in Tower. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service.
