Joann Helen Johnson, age 79 of Chisholm, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the Aspen Grove Assisted Living Center. She was born November 29, 1938 in Park Rapids, MN the daughter of Henry and Helen (Becker) Nelson and graduated from Deer River High School as an honor student. Joann has lived in Park Rapids, Deer River, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Eveleth, Aurora, and Chisholm. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia. Joann enjoyed crafts, crocheting, was a published poet, taught Sunday School, and had played in a softball league. She cherished her time spent with her children, and grandchildren.
Joann is survived by her former husband: Gerald Johnson of Eveleth; children: Tony (Tammy) Sederlund of Virginia, Susan Sederlund (Steve Larson, ex-husband) of Duluth, Helen (Jeff) Kukowski of Chisholm, Elaine Johnson of Aurora, and Henry Johnson of Arizona; grandchildren: Andrew, Stephanie, Jeremy, Sarah, Christopher, Stacy, Richard, Corey, Josh, Jessica, Kara, Tara, Derek, Taylor and Abbey; great-grandchildren: Landon, Kynlee, Easton, Lily, Avery, Olivia, Tashyn, Talulah, Posie, Elsie, Colton, Gavin, Vance, Star, Savannah, Grant, Victoria, Emmett; siblings: Henry Nelson of Grand Rapids, William (Inez) Nelson of Virginia, James (Margie) Nelson of Killeen, TX, and Nancy Sandford of Blaine, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Ron; and first husband: Harold Sederlund.
The Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Brad Felix will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial donations are preferred.
