John E. Jacobson, age 50, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died peacefully Thursday, July 17, 2014, in his home with his family at his side. He was born September 28, 1963, in Chisholm, MN the son of Ivar and Jean Ardell (Samson) Jacobson. He graduated from Cherry High School, and went on to graduate from the Millwright program at Eveleth Vo-Tech. He was united in marriage to Diane Wehrenberg on August 25, 1984, in Hibbing.
John worked most recently through Union Local 1348 often working on Nuclear Power Plants. He had also worked as a part-time truck driver for Timberline Express and Wayne Transports, and formerly for Eveleth Mines and Northern Castings. He was a Ham Radio operator, was a spotter for the National Weather Service, a firearms safety instructor, a Volunteer with the Cherry Fire Department, a first-responder with Eveleth Mines, and was a member of the Hibbing Rifle Range. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles.
John is survived by his wife: Diane; his daughter: Amanda Jacobson of Rochester, MN; his son: Andrew Jacobson (Amie Reamer) of Hibbing; his sisters: Karen (Vaughn) Monroe of Bloomington, MN, and Emily (David) Kent of Quincy, IL; and his brother: Carl (Joyce) Jacobson of Vadnais Heights, MN, and his faithful companion: Annabelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until the 1:00 pm Memorial Service Monday, July 21, 2014, in the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing. The Reverend James F. Deters will officiate.
