Obituary

John W. Weiss, age 67, longtime resident of Virginia and formerly of Biwabik, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in St. Raphael's Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Eveleth.
He was born May 30, 1943 in Eveleth, the son of Douglas and Gertrude (McMillan) Weiss. He graduated from Virginia High School. A Veteran of the US Navy, John served aboard the USS Midway in the Tonkin Gulf.
John worked as a welder for Inland Steel, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, and enjoyed following NASCAR.
John is survived by his children: Laurie Johnson of Faribault, MN, and Brian (Catherine Fredrick) Weiss of Farmington, MN; four grandchildren: William Bliss, Jeremy (Stephanie) Recore, Damon Recore, and Garrett Hipple; six great-grandchildren; and his first wife: Sharon Stickney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Doug and Edward "Tinker", and his second wife: Carol.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm at the Arrowhead Bar in Virginia.
