Julia (Judy) Durbin, 73, of Britt, MN , formerly of Ely and Winton, died at VRMC on Dec.30, 2011 after a long brave battle with cancer. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Judy was born on February 26, 1938 in Winton, MN to Paul and Eleanor (Leroy) Okstad . She attended Ely Memorial High, graduated from Vermilion Community College, and attended U of M Duluth.
Judy is survived by her children Susan (Jerry) Lee of Britt, Scott (Darlene) Durbin of Wrenshall, MN, Margie Durbin of Virginia MN, Donnie (Lisa) Durbin Of Hopewell, Va, Daughter In-Law Tina Durbin of Brownton, MN, Penny VanVickle of Leonidas, Paul Durbin of Fairbault, MN, and the father of her children Donald Durbin of Cloquet, MN, brother Sam(Mary) Okstad of San Pedro, CA, Sister Marge Krikorian of Waxhaw NC, brother Walt (Bonna) Okstad of Duluth, MN, grandchildren Lisa Seliskar (Frank Peterson), Nick (Michell) Durbin, Mandy Durbin, Cory Durbin (Fiona), Kelly Rule, Jami Rule, Daniel Durbin, Jon (Sandra Durbin), Jen Durbin, Spencer (Whitney) Durbin, Samantha (Shawn) Smith, Tyler Durbin, Dallas Durbin, Conor Durbin, Ian VanVickle, and Brianna VanVickle, great-grandchildren Morgan Dietrich, Franki Peterson, Ashley Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Lexi Peterson, December Durbin, Hope Rule, Alex Towers, Bryce Durbin , Zachary Durbin, Cameron Durbin, MacKenzie Durbin, Katie Bohl, Parker Hanson and special Aunts Marie Seme of Winton, MN and Ruth Markovich of Ely, MN, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Eleanor and Paul Okstad, son Gerald Durbin, son In-law David Vanvickle, granddaughter Whitney Durbin, brothers Paul Okstad and Gerald Okstad. Brother-in -law Serge Krikorian, Sister In-law Marie Okstad, and faithful companion "Baby".
A memorial service (date to be announced) will be held this summer in Winton.
