Obituary

June Louise Macomber, age 91 of Tower died Sunday, October 16, 2011 in her home. She was born May 21, 1920 in Calumet, MN the daughter of Robert and Hilga (Hanson) Johnson. June graduated from Greenway High School, Itasca Junior College, and St. Cloud Teacher's College. She married J. Harold "Mac" Macomber on June 13, 1946 and was a longtime Tower area resident. June taught first grade in Lake Wilson, MN and Soudan, MN. She was a longtime member of St. James Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of the Presbyterian Women; a member of the Tower Women's Club; the Loyal Chapter # 156 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Past Worthy Matron and chapter secretary; and a member of the Nelson-Jackson American Legion Post Auxiliary. June was a collector enjoying music boxes, coins, and stamps and was an avid gardener. She was a good cook and baker and cherished time spent with her family.
June is survived by her husband of 65 years: Harold; sons: Jim (Ann Flannagan) Macomber of Tower, Tom (Jeanne) Macomber of Craig, CO, and Bill Macomber of Tower; grandchildren: Erica (Jason) Love, Nathan (Teal) Macomber, Alyssa Macomber, and Cade Lofquist; great-granddaughters: Ava Madelyn Love and Juliet Sophia Love; a brother: Robert B. (Florence) Johnson of Bovey; other extended family, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Judy Lofquist in 1991; and a sister: Ruth Findley.
A Gathering Time for Family and Friends will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Life Service in the St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. Pastor Bill Evans will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
Memorials are preferred to the St. James Presbyterian Church.
