Kari Renee Luoma, age 34, of Cloquet and formerly of Grand Rapids, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, due to injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was born September 26, 1978, in Grand Rapids, MN, the daughter of Loren and Terri (Niebeling) Bouchie. She graduated from Grace Christian School in Grand Rapids, and went on to receive her AA from Itasca Community College, and attend Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, and Lake Superior College. She was united in marriage to Jeremiah Alvin Luoma on May 23, 2009, at Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids, MN.
Kari worked as a Massage Therapist, and a PCA – caring for seniors at home. She was a member of the Grace Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids, and later the Hermantown Community Church in Hermantown where she served as an Awana Leader, in the Women's Ministries and was a part of the Recycled Teens. She enjoyed people and treated all with kindness and love. She also enjoyed knitting and entertaining children.
Kari is survived by her husband: Jeremiah; her mother: Terri Bouchie Erickson and step father: Roland Erickson of Hibbing; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Alvin (Pamela) Luoma of Cloquet; her brothers: Michael (April) Bouchie of Calumet, MN, Timothy (Carol) Bouchie of Big Lake, MN, and Tommy Bade of Monticello, MN; her new brothers and sister: Steve (Karin) Erickson of Hibbing, MN, Becci (Bret) Brown of Elk River, MN, Mike (Shannon) Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Tim Erickson of Baudette, MN; her sister-in-law: Angela (Adam) Rockstad of Phoenix, AZ; her brother-in-law: Shon Luoma of Bayview, ID; her grandmother: Georgia Niebeling of Hibbing; sixteen nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who meant the world to Kari.
She was preceded in death by her father: Loren Bouchie; and her grandparents: Merle Niebeling, and Vivian and Richard Bouchie.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Celebration of Kari's Life Monday, June 10, 2013, in the Hermantown Community Church, 4880 Maple Grove Rd., in Hermantown, and live-streaming on their website: www.hermantownchurch.com. The Rev. Thor Sorenson will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
