Obituary

Katherine M. Hutar, 94, died January 16, 2009 at the Ely-Bloomenson Nursing Home. She was born April 5, 1914 to John and Katherine (Rebernick) Jerich in Ely, where she grew up and lived most of her life. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Catholic Council of Women. Katherine and her first husband, Frank Young, owned and operated a hamburger stand. Later she was a waitress for many years at the Forest Hotel Coffee Shop and then as a retail clerk for Fortier Drug before marrying her second husband, John Hutar Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a daughter Margery Young in infancy; a son John Hutar Jr.; sisters: Mary "Mitzi" (Joe) Flake and Amelia "Milly" (John) Skradski and brothers: John and Frank Jerich. Katherine is survived by a daughter: Jeanne Young(Arthur) Tome' of Ely; (6) grandchildren: Camille (Kevin) Murphy, Arthur Tome', Jr. and Adam Tome', Jackie Koschak-Tolbert, Jodi ( Mark) Walker, Katie (Roger) Hrdina; (9) great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ely at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 with Father Bill Skarich officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church.
