Kathryn L. "Kitsy" Johnson, age 83 longtime Virginia resident, died Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Clare Bridge of Plymouth residence. She was born May 31, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Hawkinson) Williams. She married Sheldon Johnson in July of 1953. Kathryn was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia, and worked part time at Woodward's Book Store. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, and was an avid reader. She loved the time spent at the cabin on Lake Vermilion for over 50 years, enjoyed fishing and travel, and cherished time spent with her family.
Kathryn is survived by sons: Russell W. (Alison) Johnson of Plymouth, MN, John Johnson of Mound, MN, Roger (Sue) Johnson of Plymouth, and Mark (Patti) Johnson of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren: Kathy, Mark, Steven, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Ryan; cousins, including Buck & Cora Hawkinson, John Hawkinson, and Lois Hawkinson; sisters-in-law: Betty Johnson, Catherine (Burt) Grover, and Florence (William) Ulicsni; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: Sheldon in 2004.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 from 12 Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
