Kendall A. "Kenny J." Johnson, age 73 a longtime resident of Babbitt died Monday, July 18, 2016 in the Carefree Living Center in Babbitt. He was born February 22, 1943 in Virginia, the son of J.A. and Georgina (Corrigan) Johnson, was a 1963 graduate of Tower – Soudan high school and the Virginia Junior College. Ken served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was united in marriage to Sharon Craig on July 3, 1970. He was employed as a Police Officer for the city of Babbitt for 30 ½ years. Ken was a member of the Maki-Pinola American Legion Post # 535 of Babbitt, a life member of the Babbitt VFW Post # 1539, Ely Masonic Lodge # 288 AF & AM where he was a Past Master, served as a Boy Scout Leader for 25+years, a Charter member of the International Academy of Criminology, Past State President of American Law Enforcement Officer's Association, past member of the American Federation of Police, and served as the Steward for the Teamsters Union Local # 346.


Ken is survived by his wife: Sharon; children: Brett (Beth) Johnson of Front Royal, VA, Cort (Elizabeth) Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL and Rori Johnson of Virginia, MN; 2 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Ross Martin of Babbitt, sisters-in-law: Susan Ward and Candice (Jeff) Fisher; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Fred & Gerta Johnson and Robert & Agnes Corrigan; mother-in-law: Dorothy Martin; step-father-in-law: Clayton Martin; and sister: Glynda Carter.


Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.in the Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt. A Masonic service will begin at 7:15. Visitation will continue Saturday, July 23, 2016 from10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt. Rev. Frank S. Davis will officiate. Interment will be in the Argo Cemetery. Military Honors accorded by the Babbitt Serviceman's Honor Guard.
