Kenneth Edward Johnson, fondly remembered as "No Parts Kenny", age 82 of Mt. Iron died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. He was born April 6, 1933 in Virginia, MN the son of Charles and Gyda (Knutson) Johnson. Ken grew up on a farm in Debs, MN and was a graduate of Bemidji High School and the Virginia Junior College. He married Evelyn Iverson in Virginia in 1954 and she passed away in 1970. Ken owned Ken's Fixit Shop in Virginia, was employed by Hyde Supply in Virginia as their outboard motor mechanic, then opened Johnson Service Center in Eveleth and was one of the first Ski Doo dealerships in northern Minnesota. Later he co-owned Johnson Soil Movers with his son, Scott and worked summers in northern Minnesota and worked construction in the southern states in the winter. Ken had also did small engine repair for Plaza Hardware, did metal machining, and ran a cement plant in New Mexico. He was truly a jack of all trades.
Ken was a member of the Popular Rotorcraft Association, the United Commercial Travelers, and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing with tractors, and building and flying gyro-copters on his beloved farm in Zim.
Ken is survived by his son: Scott E. (Lisa Staudahar) Johnson of Gilbert, daughter: Barbara Johnson of Denver, CO; granddaughter: Melanie Johnson of Olympia WA, special partner in life: Doris Kochevar of Mt. Iron; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Evelyn; son: Terry Johnson; and brother: Wallace Johnson.
