Kyle Jon Cashman, 24, formerly of Virginia, MN passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home in St. Cloud, MN. Kyle was born on February 21, 1993 in Duluth, MN the son of Barry and Rena (Lax) Cashman.

Kyle was a 2011 honors graduate of Roosevelt High School in Virginia. He graduated from Hibbing Community College and was pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance at St. Cloud State University.

Kyle was a natural athlete, who could swim like a fish at a very young age. He played football and hockey and was proud to be a Blue Devil. He traveled with his goalie gear in his car, always hoping to find a pick-up game somewhere. Kyle enjoyed fishing and target practice but his real passion was the search for the "elusive upland game chicken" (ruffled grouse hunting). He found peace and solitude in the woods, especially around the family cabin on Birch Lake, the Tomahawk Trail, Big Aspen and Giants Ridge.

Kyle is greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his mother, Rena Cashman, father Barry (Erika Schaffer) Cashman; Grandparents Chuck and Patricia Cashman; Uncle and Aunt John and Sheila Cashman, Uncle Dante Tini, Aunts Jeris Lax and Rene Lax; Cousins: Chloe Cashman, Jenna Cashman, Beau Elkington, Bambi (Doyle) Shelby, Jamie Holmes, Nikki (Sam) Aluni; Nephew Oliver Ross; Step-Siblings Nic Strachan and Alexa (Aaron Ross) Strachan; Step-grandparents Bill and Peggy Schaffer; Step-aunts Victoria Schaffer and Christine Suihkonen; numerous extended family members and his many, many friends. Special thanks to: Rebecca Maki, Lynnette Lovejoy, Faye Akerman and their families for always treating Kyle like their own son and Kyle's "blood brother" and roommate Dylan (Chelsea Lavigne) Skramsted for always being there for Kyle.

Kyle was preceded in death by his Grandparents Kenneth and Joan Lax; Aunt LaRae Tini; Uncle Tom Holmes; paternal Great-grandparents Bernard and Agnes Cashman; maternal Great-grandparents Joseph and Emma Cook and great uncle Roland Cook.

Kyle was a kind hearted soul and will be greatly missed.

The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. A gathering time for family and friend will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred.

Our Beautiful Boy

KyJon…"Cash"…"CashMoney"…"Couz"…..Kyle was a happy, gregarious kid who loved being in the lake. He could swim like a fish at a very young age, as could all the Birch Lake babies. But Kyle would take a special pride in being the first one to completely submerge himself each spring as soon as possible after the ice went out. April 19th still stands as his record, and mind you we don't have a sauna to warm up in!! Kyle loved animals and animals loved Kyle, he has had many pets over the years. The one that stands out most was a baby SNAPPING turtle that he and his Grandma found at the lake. He begged Grandma to take it home and of course Grandma just couldn't say no. Thanks a lot Grandma!!

Kyle was very intelligent and was a voracious reader, his library is quite large. He was the kid who had to read the book before he watched the movie and he watched a lot of movies. He was a horror film fan, the scarier the movie the better. He was an incredible artist with a pencil and a very good writer.

Kyle was an Honors student and graduate of the Virginia class of 2011 and was proud to be a member of the outstanding football and hockey teams of that era. Kyle's teammate's, along with his very large circle of friends were his "brothers" and "sisters" and he loved them all. He graduated from Hibbing Community College and was currently pursuing a degree in finance at St. Cloud State University.

Kyle was a "sharp dressed man"…he bought clothes, shoes, and hats every chance he had. He would say "I have so many clothes, I don't have to do laundry for a year"! What 24 year old owns 30 high end ties? Kyle did! His hat collection is so vast that it can't even be counted!!

Kyle was also known for his exceptional "manscaping" skills. He owned all the tools and had the patience and skill to turn his beard into a work of art. He could grow a beard at a very young age and his dad is still jealous of that fact.

Kyle was his Dad's grouse hunting buddy and had a keen eye for seeing and dispatching the elusive upland game chicken. Grouse hunting became his passion and he would hit the woods every chance he had, either with his dad, a friend, or alone, and hunt for hours. He loved walking the woods and would always help supply deer camp with its annual grouse lunch.

Kyle was a deep thinker with an uncanny wit and a unique sense of humor. One of his favorite sayings was "If you're not early, you're late". He considered himself a "foodie", although he seemed to live on Fettuccine Alfredo or Chicken Tettrazini, anything with white sauce and noodles. He also had a deep affection for potato chips, the weirder the flavor the better, no plain chips for this kid.

Kyle had his struggles, but he always tried to do the "right thing". He was our awesome son, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had a heart of gold and touched many lives. Our beautiful boy with his beautiful smile, his beautiful heart and his beautiful soul. We will always love and miss you and are so very sorry if we failed you in any way.
