Obituary

Biography Laura Aronen, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2010. She was born February 14, 1919 in Florenton, MN the daughter of Frank and Roosa (Perttu) Maki. Laura married Lawrence M. Aronen on September 8, 1940 in Virginia. She lived in Great Falls, MT for 13 years, in Florenton, MN from 1955 until moving to Embarrass in 1996. Laura was employed by the Cluett-Peabody Arrow Shirt Factory, the Vermilion Co-op Store and GR Greenhouse in Embarrass, retiring at age 88. She attended Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura was an avid bowler and Vikings fan; she enjoyed wild ricing, blueberry picking, reading, cooking, and baking pies, breads, and cookies. She was expert interior designer, enjoyed playing cards, and discussing politics.
Laura is survived by a brother: Robert Maki of Florenton; children: James Aronen of Pomeroy, WA and Sharon (Gary) Rantala of Embarrass; grandchildren: Kristin (Al Zylka) Rantala, Jason (Jana Sackmeister) Aronen, Teresa (Jason) Schorn, Bryan (Mary) Rantala, Lora (Harold) Langowski, Lisa (Greg) Wright and Christopher Aronen; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Isaac, Hanna, Maija, Grace, Larissa, Savoy, Maxwell, and Sadie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Larry; great-granddaughter: Elise; and siblings: George, John, Tom, Veikko, Archie, Donald, Walter, Esther, Lempi, Lyna, and Joyce.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Pastor Ben Buchanon will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Florenton Cemetery.
Laura's family wishes to thank the staff at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center, and SMDC – East Range Hospice for their loving care and support.
