Lawrence Leonard Trucano, age 88 of Tower died Sunday, July 17, 2011 in Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Residence. He was born February 23, 1923 in Tower, the son of Charles and Catherine (Brocco) Trucano. Lawrence married Rose Zager on November 27, 1948 in Virginia and was a lifelong resident of Tower. He served in the United States Army Engineers during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre. Lawrence was employed as a shovel operator in the mines, was a farmer, and a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower. Lawrence enjoyed tending to his farm, gardening, reading, and following current events.
Lawrence is survived by children: Lawrence Lewis Trucano of Oklahoma City, OK, Candice Lenore (Frank) Spicer of Federal Way, WA, and Roslyn Louise (Steve) Olson of Kent, WA; siblings: Angela Larson of Virginia, Albert Trucano of Virginia, and John Trucano of Virginia; grandchildren: Benjamin Larson, Travis Spicer, Mackenzie Olson, Riley Olson, Kira Olson, Yulisa Olson; special friend: Joyce Rude of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Rose; daughter: Maria Larson; and siblings: Joe Trucano, Jim Trucano, Theresa Johnson, Eleanor Gornick, Charles Trucano, Gene Trucano, Marie Woolverton, and Catherine Poderzay.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower. Reverend Father Joseph Valliyamthadathil will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower. Military honors accorded by the Nelson-Jackson American Legion Post # 245 of Tower.
