Lee Charles Schumacher, age 59 of Hibbing went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2016 in his home with his family by his side. He was born May 19, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Maynard and Lila (Price) Schumacher and was a 1975 graduate of Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School. Lee married Jacqueline Park on September 27, 1975 in Aurora and they made their home in Hoyt Lakes and Hibbing. He was employed as a Lab Tech. with Erie Mining Company and a Shift Chemist and Foreman with Hibbing Taconite. Lee was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hibbing where he served as a Deacon, Youth Group Leader, and as a Counselor at Camp Swampy. Lee also coached many youth sports, and was active with Hibbing Girls Hockey Team and was one of their announcers. He enjoyed golf, disc golf, swimming, triathlons, and biking. This man of faith cherished spending time with his family, especially his 15 grandchildren.
Lee is survived by his wife of 40 years: Jackie; children: Adam (Jamie) Schumacher of Norwalk, IA, Anita (Jonathan) Mendonsa of Cohasset, MN, Amy (Jason) Reynolds of Ventura, IA, and Aric (Krissy) Schumacher of Council Groves, KS; grandchildren: Caleb Schumacher, Tyler Mendonsa, Cole Schumacher, Anikka Mendonsa, Noah Schumacher, Elaina Schumacher, Linden Reynolds, Brenna Mendonsa, Alison Schumacher, Hadley Reynolds, Aubrey Mendonsa, Bethany Mendonsa, Hailey Bandelow, Allison Bandelow, and Levi Reynolds; siblings: Amber (Gerald) Krueger of Hibbing, Celia (John Flatley) Heikkila of Perham, MN, Peggy (Larry Fennell) Gaskins of Guyton, GA, Neal (Julie) Schumacher of Duluth, Tony (Jackie Holm Reeder) Schumacher of Hibbing, and Jody (Bill) Anderson of Belvidere, NJ; in-laws: Jacqueline Park of Virginia, and Raymond (Virginia) Park of Gilbert; sisters and brothers-in-law: Christine (Ronald) Adams of Makinen, Tammy Langfeld of Virginia, Cyndi (Jeff) Hancock of Hibbing and Patrick (Dianne) Park of Longmont, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Martin and Eleanora (Rolf) Schumacher and George and Esther (Foystal) Price.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hibbing. Visitation will continue Tuesday, August 2,2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at the Church. Pastors Greg Stevens and Jon Mendonsa will officiate. A private, family interment will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Goodland, MN.
Lee's family wishes to thank the Doctors and Staff of Fairview Range Oncology and Infusion Center and Fairview Northstar Hospice for their support, compassion, and loving care.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Compassion International, Camp Swampy c/o First Baptist Church, or the Central Mesabi Medical Foundation.
