Leora Mae Froelich, age 76 of Virginia died Wednesday January 7, 2009 in Edgewood Vista. She was born May 2, 1932 in Saum, MN the daughter of George and Amanda Vraa and married Raymond Froelich on October 10, 1953 in Kelliher, MN. They lived in Babbitt and Ely prior to moving to the Virginia area. Leora was employed by Sears & Roebuck, was a longtime Star Route Mail Carrier and a homemaker. She was a wonderful baker and canner, and enjoyed gardening. Her love for the outdoors and the lakes included hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. She had a special knack with animals, and her pet dogs. Leora had a special love of music and she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Leora is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond; daughters, Rae Ann (Frank) Kerntz of Ely, Debra (Ken) Lefever of Woodland, WA, and Michele (Mitch) Lekatz of Ely; grandchildren, Christopher, Shaylyn, Brian, Deanna, Leslie, and Patrick; great-granddaughter, Jacquelyn; siblings, James Haley of Chicago, IL, and Mary Lou (Jim) Mistic of Castle Rock, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Frank Kerntz, Jr.; brother, Earl Haley; and sister, Irene Dracy.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia. Reverend Father Lourdes will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be in the Ely Cemetery.
