LeRoy Raymond Stoll, age 96, longtime resident of Ely died Saturday, February 20, 2010 in St. Michael's Health and Rehab. Center in Virginia. He was born May 30, 1913 in Birch Coulee, Twp. Of Renville County, MN, the son of Charlie and Regina (Fidee) Stoll. LeRoy was raised on a farm and attended school in Franklin, MN. Se served in WWII with the U.S. Army. LeRoy married Bernetta Jennings in 1935 in Morton, MN. The couple was blessed with five children. They moved to Northern Minnesota where he worked as a farmer and logger. LeRoy was a member of the VFW Post #248,the Ely Senior Citizens, and the Ely United Methodist Church.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Bernetta on January 11, 1983; his second wife: Marguerite Nelson Stoll on March 22, 1993; two sons: Lester in 1980 and LeRoy Jr. in 2000; four sisters: Meta Steinhouse, Iola Micetzel, Leona Huthson, and Beatrice Steinhouse; and a great-grandson: Landen.
LeRoy is survived by three children: Geraldine (Allyn) Reimer of Margie, MN, Clayton (Barbara) Stoll of Virginia, MN, and Jerry (Gloria) Stoll of Sidney, FL: two stepdaughters: Patricia (Robert) Olson and Barbara Lassila; and many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service for LeRoy will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 1, 2010 in the United Methodist Church of Ely. Pastors Dana Thompson and (grandson) Randy Reimer will officiate. Burial will be in the Ely Cemetery.
