Biography Lillian Margaret Mattson, age 89, longtime resident of Hibbing died Friday, May 27, 2011, in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born May 30, 1921 in Hibbing the daughter of Howard and Esther (Erickson) LaMere. She graduated from Hibbing High School. Lillian was united in marriage to Tenho Mattson on April 26, 1941.
Lillian worked as Assistant Manager of the Gift House Stamp Company in Hibbing. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing and the VFW Post 8510 Auxiliary. She was an avid and award-winning knitter.
Lillian is survived by her daughter: Dianne Giacobba of Florida; her son-in-law: John Giacobba, Sr., of Florida; three grandchildren: Rebecca, John, Jr., and Mark; two great-grandchildren: John III, and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Tenho; and three sisters.
Visitation will be at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service. The Reverend Dr. Dave Stevens will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill cemetery.
