Obituary


Lois Ramona Johnson, age 88, of Virginia, died Monday, March 3, 2014 in St Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born Sept. 20, 1925 in Dalton, MN, the daughter of Raymond and Carrie (Searles) Torgerson. She married Almon Johnson on June 11, 1947 in the Thordensjold Church in Underwood, MN. Lois worked at the Cluett Peabody Shirt factory, the Virginia Housing Authority, and was a proud homemaker. She was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Ruth Circle, playing piano, sewing, crocheting, baking, reading, and serving meals. Lois enjoyed time in Colorado, Hawaii, and Eagle's Nest Lake.
She is survived by her children: Marilyn Carlon of Tampa, FL, Margaret (Arnie) Halvorson of Britt, Brenda (Henry) Ryberg of Virginia, Marvin (Sherry) Johnson of Virginia, Carol Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Nola (Jay) Rogers of Virginia; Sisters: Ada Wagstrom of Rifle, CO, Edith Larkin of Wenotchee, WA, and Carol Trumps of Palmer, AK; grandchildren: Lee Pierce, Marissa Flossey, Sarah Pierce, Jeffery Johnson, Tracy Johnson, Troy Johnson, Tiffany Berglund, Benjamin Barnett, Morgan Barnett, and Rebecca Barnett; 10 Great-Grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents: husband: Almon; daughter: Leona Keller; son: Richard Johnson; grandson: Adrian Johnson; brother: Raymond Torgerson; and sister: Audrey Phipps.
A Gathering Time for family and friends will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Church. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the Joyful Noise! Choir at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church.
