Obituary

Lorraine was born in Embarrass, Minnesota to Sven and Hilja (Paalanen) Raida. She graduated from Embarrass High School. After high school, she attended secretarial school at the Minnesota School of Business in Duluth and later in Minneapolis. She soon found a job with Johnson Printing in Minneapolis, where she worked until her retirement.

Lorraine met Merlyn Johnson, a close friend of her brother-in-law Richard (Red) Rehberg, and they were married on July 22, 1966, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016.

Lorraine and Merlyn retired full time to their home on Lake Vermillion near Tower in 2000. They enjoyed spending their time fishing, watching the wild life in their yard and providing a welcoming place for family and friends. Lorraine had a kind heart, loved her husband very much, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a love for animals, especially dogs.

Lorraine passed away peacefully at the J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park, under the wonderful care of their staff and her family.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Arvo Raido and sister: Laura Pennanen.

Lorraine is survived by her sister: Loretta (Richard) Rehberg of Balsam Lake, WI; brother: William Raida of Pike Township; children: Aubrey (Eny) Johnson of Anoka, Merleen (Mike) Knott of Red Lake Falls, and Lowell (Nuvia) Johnson of Bruno; grandchildren: Kevin, Christopher, Jonathan, April, Grant, Brett, Chelsey, Armani and Gianni; great-grandchildren: Avory, Autumn, Wilder, Hailey, Summer, Jett and Oklei, numerous nieces and nephews, and the many friends she has made over the years, including Lois and Rodger.
